1 laptop one less thing to figure out
This is bigger than technology

Sometimes the laptop is the easiest problem to solve.

When a family is navigating illness, loss, disability, or instability, removing one barrier matters.

You’re giving a family one less thing to carry.
Behind the number

Behind every request is a family story.

Families aren’t asking for another screen. They’re asking for a way to keep learning moving while life is asking more of them than usual.

School can continue through recovery.

Some children are recovering from surgery or living with serious health conditions. A laptop helps learning continue around appointments and recovery.

Learning can finally fit the child.

For children with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, sensory challenges, or other learning differences, technology can open access to learning that works at their pace.

Learning can offer a little consistency.

Grief, illness, relocation, and unexpected family changes can reshape a household overnight. A dependable device gives a child one consistent place to keep learning.

Starting over shouldn’t mean starting school over.

Some families are living in shelters or rebuilding after unsafe situations. A laptop helps keep school accessible wherever the family goes next.

Sometimes there simply isn’t $200 left.

Medical expenses, unemployment, disability, fixed incomes, and single-parent households can make replacing a broken computer impossible.

You don’t have to solve the whole story.

You can take care of one thing. One laptop. One barrier removed. One less thing to carry.

In their own words

These aren’t hypothetical families.

These are real situations families describe when they apply for the Digital Access Grant.

“We are living in a DV shelter and will be transferring states soon. We need this before school starts.”

What access changes

One laptop can make the day feel possible again.

It means one less barrier between a child and their education.

  • School can continue through illness, recovery, or transition.
  • A child can learn in the way that works best for them.
  • A family can stop trying to make one broken or shared device work.
One less problem to solve.
One more way forward.

You don’t have to fix everything.

You don’t have to fix the diagnosis, replace lost income, or solve everything else a family may be navigating.

You can simply say: “This one thing? I’ve got it.”
